RADIO: CLIMATE AND FOOD PRODUCTION

Recommended listening, if you live on Earth. (It’s about half an hour long.)

You can’t see it and you can’t feel it, but ozone, one of the greenhouse gases associated with climate change, is causing a decrease of 20% to the soya crop in the United States of America.

Soya is the second biggest crop in the states and they produce 40% of the world’s soya.

Sue Broom travels to Champaign, Illinois to see the extraordinary experiments being carried out by scientists recreating the atmosphere expected in 2050.

She discovers whether plants will be able to survive the ever increasing levels of ozone and carbon dioxide.
