That recipe irritated me so much that I was forced to make real chicken teriyaki last night. Which, for the record, does not contain any mayonnaise. Although when I attempted to add a tablespoon or so of sake to the marinade, the bottle got excited and glugged a good bit more into the bowl … so I guess last night’s meal was drunk chicken teriyaki. Good, though.
It’s all I can do not to gag just reading that. Soy sauce and mayonnaise? Talk about fusion cuisine.
That all the commenters mentioned that it created a moist chicken, I suspect all that soy sauce is just brining the chicken.
