LET’S ALL GO TO THE MOVIES

Posted on Thursday 30 November 2006

First off, Happy Feet “is heavily reliant on racial stereotypes as relayed through voice quality/dialect” (Polyglot Conspiracy). No one is really surprised, though.

Meanwhile, Michael Medved apparently wants the government to protect “unprepared parents” from penguin “propaganda.” Parents like “MikeP29p,” who says, “We took our kids ages 6 and 4 last night because they wanted to go because they saw the commercials.” Don’t you understand? These parents clearly have no choice but to take their kids to PG-rated films once they’ve seen the commercials!

Randomly selected from the IMDB (Titles with certificate: USA:PG), here are a few children’s video rental suggestions for “MikeP29p”:

Breaker Morant, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, All the President’s Men, Animal Farm, Being There, Benny & Joon, Blood Orgy of the She Devils, Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, Dr. Phibes Rises Again, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Earth Girls Are Easy, The Elephant Man, Gandhi, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Goldfinger, Hairspray, Harold and Maude, High Anxiety, Inherit the Wind, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Jaws, Kagemusha, The Magic Christian, Malcolm X, Miss Evers’ Boys, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Night of the Lepus, The Omega Man, Black Orpheus, Reefer Madness, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Salem’s Lot, Scream Blacula Scream, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Soylent Green, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, Time Bandits, Vertigo, Victor/Victoria, Wizards
