The first has one verse and a chorus and was composed sometime in the last century, and the second has eleventy-seven or so verses and no chorus and is from the nineteenth century.
Stewart, Boucher & Schroer, “Telephone Call to Istanbul” (live on WEFT, 2002; song by Tom Waits)
Lisa Boucher & Matt Stewart, “The Night Before Larry Was Stretched” (Society of Celtic Cultures benefit, University of Illinois, 2004; see song info)
I probably won’t sing either of them this Sunday, but I’m pretty certain I could still manage “Larry.”
