TODAY IS VETERANS DAY

Need help?

While we hear the count of those who have been killed, the numbers of those who come home wounded physically, psychologically, or both, is less known. About 20 percent have injuries that require care for the rest of their lives. A study by the Army reported 17 percent have diagnoses reflecting major depression, anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The Pentagon’s statistics include only those hurt by the enemy, not others suffering from war-related incidents like vehicular accidents–or emotional breakdowns. At least 15,000 have been med-evacked for those “other” reasons.
