HAPPY UNOFFICIAL ST PATRICK’S DAY
Today’s weather: cloudy and windy, with occasional vomit.
Hey, it looks like almost nothing is going on in Central Illinois for actual St Patrick’s Day. That can’t be right, can it? I must be out of the loop.
And if I’m out of the loop when it comes to Irish music events, I don’t see much point in doing this newsletter. So here’s what I’ll do: I’ll wait and see if any more info comes in, then send out another mailing a week from today. Depending on what happens between now and then, it may be the final one. (Sending event announcements for CEOL is easy: just email me at the address at the bottom of this post. Please include actual details and not just a link to a website.)

As everyone probably knows by now, Thom Larson suffered a severe heart attack a few weeks ago followed by quadruple bypass surgery. He’s on the mend, but we can help him feel better with cards and well-wishes—and donations wouldn’t hurt, as he has no insurance to cover the exorbitant bills. If you’d like to send a card to Thom, please send it to the following address:
Thom Larson
P.O. Box 3025
Bloomington, IL 61702
To which I add:
You can also PayPal a donation to donations@thewhistleshop.com. In case you don’t know Thom, he’s the owner of the Whistle Shop, a member of the band Bloomsday, host of the Bloomington-Normal slow session, and an all-around good guy. Feel better, Thom!

QUOTE OF THE MOMENT
Irish music is guts, balls and feet music, yeah? It’s frenetic dance music, yeah? Or it’s impossibly sad like slow music, yeah?
